The Book of Mormon was revealed at the very outset of the Restoration through the Prophet Joseph Smith by the gift and power of God. Delivered by an authorized messenger, it carries with it the divine promise of restored knowledge, authority, and covenant blessings—an urgent and personal summons to come unto Christ in our day.

Within its pages, the Lord warns of a hidden danger: to “dwindle in unbelief.” This is not a sudden fall but a gradual descent—a quiet erosion of faith that occurs when we cling to partial truths, inherited traditions, or mistaken principles that obscure the fulness of His gospel.

The record warns against pride, a theme reaffirmed by President Ezra Taft Benson. Yet alongside this warning lies another equally vital call: to identify and cast-off unbelief. Only in doing so can we fully claim the blessings God has promised. Removing unbelief clears the way for revelation, strengthens our discipleship, and unlocks the fulness of Christ’s redeeming power in our lives.

The Book of Mormon is addressed to each of us personally—not to an institution or collective body, but to individuals living in the last days. Its prophets were not writing to a Church organization; they wrote for readers who would one day find and search its pages, seeking divine guidance for their own lives. The Book of Mormon is truly God’s gift to a fallen world, designed to lift us—individually and personally—from whatever spiritual state in which we find ourselves.

It proclaims a sobering truth: the book will come forth in a time of widespread disbelief, in an age when the world, priding itself on sophistication, wages open war on faith and belief in unseen powers. In such a day of skepticism, confusion, human sophistry, the Book of Mormon cuts through the noise, calling each soul back to God, reminding us that His word is here crying from the dust speaking to the heart of every person willing to hear.
