An Everlasting Decree
An Everlasting Decree
Ensuring a Title to Liberty for the Promised Land
The Book of Mormon...
- Contains the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
- Is the record of a fallen people
- Serves as a "deed restriction" on the Promised Land
This third and final reason refers to the "covenant" connected to the land and dictates how any nation who inhabits that land is to maintain the freedoms that have been set up by God. While the first two messages are directed to the world and the Saints, the third message is directed to all freedom-loving people regardless of where they live.
Many will say that "it doesn't matter where the Book of Mormon took place." However, if the Promised Land cannot be identified, then the associated restrictions, blessings, and responsibilities can also not be realized, nor can the prophecies and promises in the text become a moving force, as hoped for by the prophets who spoke to us "out of the dust."
The location of the Promised Land is significant and necessary for the spiritual security and temporal salvation of those who would dwell upon the land. Heeding the central messages of the Book of Mormon is the only hope for man. This sacred book of scripture contains not only the story of the "Everlasting Decree" but actually becomes, in the hands of every honest reader, a Title to Liberty for the Promised Land.
