He told me that he was given access to many of the related artifacts including the Zelph Arrowhead. He said that he was able to take photos of it and to have a professional knapper make him a replica copy. This replica is based upon his accurate copy of the arrow head that killed Zelph.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI had these made as part of a collection of Holy Stones. I sold all the Holy Stones, but still have a few of these arrowheads left over. They are made out of a hardened acrylic material that was molded to look like an obsidian original. (You can see an actual obsidian arrowhead in the images below)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJohn Taylor, publisher of the \u003ci\u003eTimes and Seasons\u003c\/i\u003e, included the following account in the in the January 1, 1846 issue:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cblockquote class=\"templatequote\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn the top of the mound were stones which presented the appearance of three alters [sic] having been erected one above the other, according to ancient order; and human bones were strewn over the surface of the ground. The brethren procured a shovel and hoe, and removing the earth to the depth of about one foot discovered skeleton of a man, almost entire, and between his ribs was a \u003cstrong\u003eLamanitish arrow\u003c\/strong\u003e which evidently produced his death, Elder Brigham Young \u003cstrong\u003eretained the arrow\u003c\/strong\u003e and the brethren carried some pieces of the skeleton to Clay county. The contemplation of the scenery before us produced peculiar sensations in our bosoms; and the visions of the past being opened to my understandings by the sprit of the Almighty I discovered that the person whose skeleton was before us, was a white Lamanite, a large thick set man, and a man of God. He was a warrior and chieftain under the great prophet Omandagus, who was known from the hill Cumorah, or Eastern sea, to the Rocky Mountains. \u003cstrong\u003eHis name was Zelph\u003c\/strong\u003e. The curse was taken from him, or at least in part; one of his thigh bones was broken, by a stone flung from a sling while in battle years before his death. He was \u003cstrong\u003ekilled\u003c\/strong\u003e in battle,\u003cstrong\u003e by the arrow found among his ribs\u003c\/strong\u003e, during the last great struggle of the Lammanites and Nephites.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/blockquote\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"templatequotecite\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e— John Taylor\u003csup id=\"cite_ref-4\" class=\"reference\"\u003e\u003c\/sup\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHeber C. Kimball in a later recollection indicated that several of the group, along with Joseph Smith, walked to the top of a mound that they had located on the bank of the Illinois River. Kimball states:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cblockquote class=\"templatequote\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt about one foot deep we discovered the skeleton of a man, almost entire; and between two of his ribs we found an Indian arrow, which had evidently been the cause of his death. We took the leg and thigh bones and carried them along with us to Clay county. Kimball\u003csup id=\"cite_ref-7\" class=\"reference\"\u003e\u003c\/sup\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter continuing on their journey, Kimball reports that it \"was made known to Joseph that he had been an officer who fell in battle, in the last destruction among the Lamanites, and his name was Zelph. This caused us to rejoice much, to think that God was so mindful of us as to show these things to his servant.
